Con Edison Solicits More Geo January 20 2020

Con Edison is planning to issue another solicitation for "smart solutions" to the natural gas crunch in Westchester County. According to the statement on their website:

Our Smart Solutions program, providing customers with incentives for energy efficiency and cleaner alternatives to natural gas, already has led about 30 Westchester County customers to choose geothermal heat pump technology for heating their homes. Our heat pump offerings to customers are likely to grow significantly in 2020, through additional incentive funding we have requested from our state regulators.
Here is a Con Ed video of a Westchester resident who installed a geothermal system in his home.

And here is another article in the Patch Ossining-Croton-on-Hudson website on Con Ed's embrace of geothermal in Westchester in the face of the gas constraints there.

Thanks to NY-GEO member Jens Ponikau for this tip.

ON A RELATED NOTE, the Public Service Commission on Thursday, January 16th adopted the joint proposal negotiated in Con Ed's rate hike proceeding. Here is the PSC's press release on the adoption.

Also, here is the NY-GEO support letter on the settlement and, in contrast, the Alliance for a Green Economy's (AGREE) letter in opposition.
