PSC Requires Pro Geo Electric Rate May 20 2019, 0 Comments

On May 16th the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC) issued an order to electric utilities on standby service electric rates that should cut costs for geothermal (GHP) customers as well as electric vehicle (EV) owners.

Current delivery rates overcharge geothermal customers, who wind up paying more for electricity even though efficient geothermal systems don't add significant costs to the utilities' delivery systems. The PSC ordered New York's utilities to file plans to make demand-based standby rates available to all customers with advanced ("smart") meters.
