PRE-CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES - APRIL 22 CELEBRATING EARTH DAY
DRILLING DEMONSTRATION
THE HEAT BENEATH OUR FEET
We're excited to offer a Geothermal Borehole Drilling showcase ahead of NY-GEO 2025. This event will showcase our drilling community to learn what goes into drilling, piping, and grouting a borehole.
In addition to the drilling demo, the showcase will also feature:
Drift Monitoring / USGS
Butt and Loop Fusion demonstrations / F.W.Webb
Thermal Conductivity Testing / Aztech Geothermal
Mud School / The Developed Well Group
Geothermal Drilling Operations 101 / Brightcore
Drones and Drilling / Borelogic
DRILLERS
HAWK DRILLING Co., INC Will be setting casing using mud rotary drilling methods using our 2019 Epiroc DB40 drilling rig and Mudslayer M350 Mud reclaiming system.
Mud rotary drilling uses high-density fluids (mud) to maintain an open and stable borehole, which is necessary for casing installation. This method is particularly useful in areas with wet and loose ground conditions. We anticipate the casing depth for this site to be between 40 and 70 feet. Once the casing is installed, they will drill to a depth of 300+ feet below the ground surface, using a down-the-hole air hammer. Following this, the borehole can be looped and grouted.
Rosick Well Drilling draws on years of local expertise to create both vertical and horizontal closed loops that feed into your home. They also drill high-production wells for standing column geothermal systems.
Rosick will be using a Holte Casing Driver (CD) or Casing Hammer designed to be small and compact as well as hard hitting like a Down Hole Hammer (DHH). While the CD cycles fast like a DHH it is able to be designed around a much larger piston since it is above ground, in turn, delivering an extremely powerful impact for driving casing,
The TSi 150CC Sonic Drill Rig is the most powerful sonic rig on a small platform in the world. It brings full Terra Sonic power and innovation to a compact footprint for remarkable flexibility and versatility. The track-mounted 150CC easily reaches limited-access areas and tough terrain. Remote control tracking makes the 150CC ideal for use in tighter spaces.
To ensure your comfort throughout the day, your registration includes snacks, water, lunch, and scheduled breaks. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. We will provide all necessary PPE, but you are welcome to bring your own.
