zzzz2016 Conference Frequently Asked Questions
NY-GEO offers profound thanks to our Sponsors:
Top Job Sponsor
Q: Can I register at the door?
Yes, you will be able to register at the door. Since many of our expenses and commitments are due in advance of the conference, registration at the door will be 10% more than pre-registration.
The only exception to this 10% surcharge is the ASHRAE/AEE luncheon on Tuesday, April 19th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM; registration will only take place the same day, from Noon to 12:30 PM, at the Registration desk.
Q: Can the general public attend the conference?
Yes, we welcome the public to the Wednesday (Day 2) events. The Tuesday (Day 1) workshops are designed for architects, engineers and others in the geothermal heat pump industry. But the Wednesday workshops focus on public policy and renewable heating & cooling in general. See the full Day 2 program, including the workshop Geothermal 101 Ground Source Heat Pumps for Beginners. You can register for Day 2 workshops here. (Be sure to choose "no" to the PDH credits in the drop down menu.)
The public is also welcome to come free of charge to visit the conference exhibits and talk with experts on Wednesday April 20th from 7:30-8:30 AM, 11-11:30 AM and 12:30-1:30 PM. They will be delighted to answer any questions you may have about heating without fire.
Q: What is your refund policy?
If you cancel your registration by April 12th you will receive a full refund less a 10% administrative fee. After April 12 you will receive a 50% refund. (You might consider transferring your registration to someone else.)
Q: Can I transfer my registration to someone else?
Yes. Just e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with the new attendee's contact information and a statement from you that you are transferring your registration to him or her.
Q: How do I apply for a scholarship?

Q: What are the hotel accommodations?
The Wolf Road Radisson in Albany, NY is giving the NY-GEO conference good service and a great price on both meeting space and hotel rooms for participants (starting at $110). Please take advantage of these low rates so you can enjoy all the perks of staying at the conference location: convenience, proximity and after-hours socializing.
To reserve your room online, click www.radisson.com/albany-hotel-ny-12205/usaalba. Select your date range. (The special rate will only apply to the dates that are blocked.) Then click "More Search Options," enter promo code "GEO" in the "Enter code or ID" box and then click "Search." All room types available at the special low rate will come up. The "Book Now" button will not work until you've chosen your room type.
Or, you can call the Albany Radisson directly at (518) 458-7264. Ask for Reservations and book under the Group Code: "GEO."
NY-GEO does need to produce a minimum number of hotel guests for the conference or we're on the hook for an added expense. If you need overnight accommodations, we hope you'll use the Radisson. If you think you need to make reservations elsewhere, please call us first at 518-3136-GEO.
Q: What workshops have continuing education credits (PDH/AIA) for engineers and architects and what are the requirements?
The workshops in the Design and Planning track offer PDH/AIA credits. Check the Conference Schedule & Details page to be sure the workshops you choose are offering continuing education credits. In addition, the ASHRAE/AEE luncheon offers 1 PDH/AIA credit.
To be eligible, when you register for the conference be sure to choose the "Yes" option for PDH credits. (This option is $40-$100 higher than non-PDH/AIA registration.) As you may know, you must sign in to each workshop in order to receive credit.
