When: Starting on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2016 and held weekly with the final 2 sessions being held at the conference, where all students will have full access to the instructor and conference events. The course is being held in conjunction with NY-GEO-2016, the geothermal conference being held at the Wolf Road Radisson in Albany, NY April 19th & 20th, 2016. (8) weekly online interactive webinars and (2) in person 1 1/2 Hour sessions will be the basis for your CGD Certification.
Eligibility: The CGD Certification builds upon training and experience and any of the following is considered a prerequisite to become certified:
  • Be an engineering graduate and/or Professional Engineer or Registered Architect with three years combined experience in commercial geothermal heat pump design and/or heating, ventilation and air-conditioning
  • Have a four-year, non-technical degree with five years combined experience in commercial geothermal heat pump design and/or heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.
  • Have a two-year technical degree with eight years of combined experience in commercial geothermal heat pump design and/or heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.
  • Have ten years or more of combined experience in commercial geothermal heat pump design and/or heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning.
The course may be attended without applying for the CGD Certification and is offered at a discounted price.
Course Content: The course is organized into (10) Sessions approximately 90 minutes each and will include the following:
  • Ground Source Heat Pump Design – Residential & Commercial
  • Closed Loop, Ground Heat Exchanger, Configurations & Layout
  • Soil/Rock Classification and Conductivity
  • Borehole Grouting
  • Ground Loop Heat Exchanger Software
  • Ground Source Heat Pump in System Performance
